Hi everyone.
I will tell you this I can't wait to go back for a
shot. I know I have swelling back. I can still see okay. We all know
how the swelling feels. Eye hurts a bit. And vision is on a down hill
slide that is a slow slide. What is crazy is my swelling goes away
completely. And then comes back I think the longest time was three
months. It's hard to remember,. After the shot I'm able to forget it
for awhile. I do so hate my new floater.
I'm having a love/hate relationship with my next shot. It's in 3
days, the 15th. I hate getting the shot and the 8 hours of irritation/
tears/pain that follow for me. But my vision is really going downhill
fast now with the big gray cloud thickening and spreading out,
obscuring what I want/need to see. I don't feel pain from the
swelling (sure sorry you do!), just see the cloud expand. I hope we
both have 'less-bad' shots (I can't even make myself say 'good shot')
and that we get good vision improvements!

*Hi Marlys,* *Something suggested by my RS that helps me with the pain and irritation following the avastin injection: I use several drops of natural tears, then cover my eye with a cotton ball or pad, taped with "invisible" transparent tape. My family teases me about the Captain Hook look, but it seems that keeping the eye closed and moist helps prevent drying, and means less irritation. I leave this on for most of 6-8 hours following the injection.* *Hope this helps * Carri ¸.•*¸.•*¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.• (¸.• ( ¸.•

Carri - thanks for this idea! I plan to try something like this.

Now I am finding out something new about the way we see colour. At the beach in bright sunlight this morning closed the good eye and saw that my CRVO was not picking up as much red as the other. My friend told me about retinal cones ... red, green.blue ... clearly something has happened to those red cones! Anyone else with any experience of this?
Kind regards,

Color is a major issue for me, Janet. Below is something I posted on
the subject last June, before you joined our forum. Ken discusses
cones in video 41, "Retinal Cells & Layers," on
https://sites.google.com/site/crvoquickstart/video-series-macular-ede....
I should really watch that again myself -- so many details to absorb.
Carol (London/Jakarta)
An occlusion can indeed affect color perception. I checked this with
my RS when I found that red lights just weren't registering when I
closed my good eye. In fact, I brought her a photo from The New
Yorker, in shades of gray, green, and red, where I could see only the
first two colors. Very weird. I thought it would be interesting to
know how other patients responded to the image, but I doubt she
pursued the topic.
I've now discovered something else I can't see: blue neon. We can look
out on the nightlights of Jakarta from our apartment. One building in
particular is very dramatic, with a strip of bright blue running down
it. Strip vanishes completely when viewed with CRVO eye only.

Yes Yes Yes....... This is exactly the same thing that happens to
me..
Reds just disapear and like the coils of my room heater, or stop
lights and stop signs...
Too weird for me to understand why...? and lately, I've been seeing
bright flashes of white lights
and somtimes orange. But just for a split second and then there
gone. Also, it happens
with a sudden door slam or a tap on my shoulder... Too crazy to even
talk about or tell..

De Bo, I get that door slam thing as well.... difficult to describe what happens but the eye sort of jumps and flashes... I have been getting consistent light flashes or waves since it happened. it is the most frequent symptom for me as my vision is not too bad.
Thanks everyone, and Carol sorry I hadn't got to that video of Ken's yet. Just got past on all the injection ones! I have just looked at it. What a thing an eye is!

I've been looking at those videos for almost four years, Janet, and
have probably missed a few myself. Since they're so helpful, my
automatic response to many queries is to check which video covers the
topic.
Those light flashes have been mentioned on our board before, but
that's one symptom I haven't experienced.

I, too, lost color early on - especially reds. All colors are less
bright and intense though from the bad eye.
It freaks me out at night when things just disappear altogether.
My first symptom was flashes in the eye, but I've heard very few of
them since the first night.
I am getting more and more floaters though. They generally don't
bother me too much.

I agree with everyone about color disappearing. Fortunately for me, I
still see it (unless it's in one of the blank spots) but everything is
dull and gray relative to what it should be. So the color is there
but pale and dull, like it's mixed with gray. I think I'll go back to
Ken's videos too; thanks Carol.
I hadn't experienced the door slam thing; that's fascinating.
