Hi,

A number of our users are more Windows people than Linux people. We
were wondering if there is a plan to support Tide on Windows? And if
so, what timeframe were you thinking of? Further, would the
performance be more-or-less comparable (ie within say 10%) as the
version of Tide on Linux? On a different but arguably related note, is
there a plan to release the source code of Tide so that we can
recompile on different flavors of Unix and get possibly better
performance for our specific unix platform? And if so, would you know
the timeframe of such a release?

Hi Gautham,
Thanks for your continuing interest in Tide. Please bear in mind
that Tide is currently a research project, not a supported piece of
commercial software: it's just me right now, and I'm a graduating
Ph.D. student. Right now, Tide should be viewed as a demonstration and
I've provided a couple of demo files for people to check out. If it
works for some of your data, that's great too!
Following my graduation, I definitely do have an interest in such
projects as porting Tide to Windows, making Tide work for a wider
variety of use cases, or looking at other platforms, but my plans
aren't concrete yet. It's also too early for me to address the
question of whether and how best to release the source. Once I know
more, I do expect to post information to this mailing list.
I'm sorry I can't be more definite right now -- I don't know all the
answers myself. If you do have other specific requests or interests,
please do let me know.

Benjamin
