We thought you would like to see our implementation of the CrunchBase
API -- called CrunchTrends (http://crunchtrends.com) -- powered by
StartPR.

CrunchTrends displays the latest online mentions of each CrunchBase
company and graphs these mentions over time.

We grab data from CrunchBase, pair it with our own StartPR search
technology, add a little inspiration from Google Trends, and voila:
CrunchTrends!

More specifically, when people mention a product or company online,
our StartPR brand monitoring service picks it up. We then combine it
with CrunchBase to create a list of popular companies with the latest
buzz about them. We also pull all the newest companies that are added
to CrunchBase and then display all the buzz associated with each one.
When you select a company or product, CrunchTrends displays
information and links to the latest buzz; it graphs the number of
mentions over time; and, it provides profile information about the
company.

Thanks,

or copy & paste it into your browser's address bar if that doesn't
work.

Hi Nicolas,

When people write about an individual CrunchBase product or company,
StartPR picks it up and displays it on CrunchTrends. The numbers on
the y axis represent the number of articles and posts about a
particular company for the dates listed on the x axis.

Hi All,
Hi,
We are using Crunchbase API on http://prsync.com
When a user is submitting a company and types the name, we offer the
user the possibility to use Crunchbase information (if matched). See
screenshot at: http://yfrog.com/0hcrunchbaseyj

(A shame that Crunchbase API doesn't cover non-tech company sectors!)

About the project:
prsync.com is a professional news distribution site.
We would like prsync.com to be a practical site for professionals by
delivering latest top industries/partners/competitors news by
organizing companies' news releases in categories and by relevance.
The user can subscribe to multiple companies in order to get a
personalized feed of companies news releases.
Every press release and company information on prsync.com is submitted
and edited by our community. Also, if a company's press release rss
url is provided, a robot visits feeds periodically to look for new
press releases.

Prsync is open source under GPLv2.

We built a series of widgets that retrieve and analyze live CrunchBase
API data, and visualize results as interactive flash charts.

The widgets can run anywhere – inside iGoogle, on a blog, embedded
inside web applications, etc. They even run nicely on the iPhone
Safari browser.

Try/get the apps here, they're free: http://www.youcalc.com/apps/tag/crunchbase

One app analyzes funding and burn rate for companies listed on
CrunchBase. It also calculates an estimated cash out date based on
historic burn.
Another app analyzes the investment profile of VCs listed on
CrunchBase. It shows distribution of investments by type of round, to
see if the VC is a typical early stage or late stage investor. And
distribution of investments by size of round, so see if the VC
typically participates in large or small funding rounds.

The model logic behind the apps is accessible for any youcalc user to
copy, modify, and build other versions – zero coding required. We even
added the CrunchBase API as a standard drag-and-drop data source in
our modeling tool (youcalc builder) so it’s easy for youcalc users to
build other analytics apps on the CrunchBase API.

Another nice little feature is that you can add any number of apps to
iGoogle – so if you added the same CrunchBase app twice to your
iGoogle, you could easily compare/benchmark to companies or two VCs
against each other:

I hope some of you like it – any feedback is welcome!
