Today, the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Science and Technology Policy jointly released a new Open Data Policy directing agencies to implement specific structural reforms. In conjunction with an Executive Order prioritizing open and machine readable government information, these adjustments are forward looking and exciting.

This ties in to the upcoming National Day of Civic Hacking on June 1-2:

which emphasized open data.  (Yes, it's two days. :D )  Look for a nearby hackathon!  And if you're not in the US, Random Hacks of Kindness Global is on the same two days.  (Many US events are participating in both.)
