Resource Finder for Pakistan

Hi All,

I work on Google's Crisis Response efforts.  Google has been monitoring the ongoing situation in Pakistan for ways that we might be useful. We have deployed an early version of our Resource Finder tool, previously in use in Haiti only, for the mapping of health facilities.  You can access the live version at the following URL: http://pakistan.resource-finder.appspot.com/  

Resource Finder is a web-based tool that allows anyone to enter and update information on health facilities and the availability of hospital beds and medical services.  It was primarily designed to help relief workers identify neighboring health facilities so that they can efficiently arrange patient transfers.

Please feel free to pass this tool to your respective colleagues and other organizations.

We normally wouldn’t release the tool so quickly, but decided to make Resource Finder available for supporting relief efforts in Pakistan given the scale of the disaster.  This is the first time the tool is being launched during a disaster situation so we’ll be working closely with you and other NGOs to understand its usefulness and will iterate accordingly.

All I updated the Pakistan Floods CrisisCommons Wiki page with some Crowdsourcing ideas.

What we also need is to tell people who are out in Pakistan and ready to help about:   * Which tools are up and running and how they can help with them * Which information sources and channels are up and running and how they can help * Our hints, tips, experiences of running camps if they want to run their own   - the hope is that we'll inform and support as much as we can from here, and do what we can with people over here, but our own interactions with the toolset are going to be limited in scope by the language barrier, so the more local Urdu-speaking campers we can get helping, the better.       Sj. --- On Fri, 13/8/10, Heather Leson <heathe...@gmail.com> wrote:

shows 3pm London is 8am Calgary, 7pm Karachi, 6pm Dubai, for instance - or we could meet at the end of the Cambridge camp to get Silicon Valley in on the call.

Hi Awab,

It's tomorrow at 7pm Karachi time.� There are a set of phone numbers (we use a telephone bridge) listed at http://wiki.crisiscommons.org/wiki/Telephone_Bridge - there isn't one in Pakistan yet, although we might know someone who may be able to arrange something.

Comms guys: is there any way for Awab to link in without having to pay for an international call here?�� Would it be possible to e.g. use Skype for this particular call?
