CCC Country Rides

CCC country rides will often draw up to 15 to 20 riders, depending on the location and weather. We enjoy numerous routes in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, and St. Helena parishes, with an occasional venture into Mississippi.

A designated ride leader will meet everyone at the start with a sign-up sheet and route maps. Non-members are welcomed, but we'll ask them to join the club if they want to attend future rides. The ride leader will try to keep tabs on everyone along the way, but of course we all ride at varying paces. There is usually a store or two along the route, which is a good place to hold up and let the slower riders catch up. The route maps will also show short cuts for those who don't want to do the full ride. Typically rides are 45 to 55 miles in length.

At the end of the ride the leader will make sure everyone arrives safely. If anyone is missing the ride leader may mount a search.

While the club will make every reasonable effort to accommodate riders, everyone should realize that country rides are self-supported. It is not unusual to find yourself riding alone if you can't keep up with the group you started with. Riders must assume responsibility for having proper hydration, nutrition, and emergency gear. As a minimum each cyclists should have a couple of spare tubes, tire levers, and a pump or CO2 inflator. Other useful saddle bag items include a multi-tool, pocket knife, tire boot, and money.

Country rides are a delightful way to shed the hustle and bustle of the work week. Join us for some fresh air and open roads!

Going the Extra Mile is our official country rides mileage log page.  This page will keep a running tally of all mileage ridden by club members on official CCC country rides.
