Subject: GM Card-BAD EXPERIENCE
I just had a very bad experience with GM Mastercard.  After almost 2
decades of being a customer which never had a late payment and always
paid if full each cycle, I maxed out the $500 per year rebate on my
original GM Card.  I plan an $8000 purchase in about 2 months so I
applied for and received a second GM Card so I could earn about $400
rebate on this purchase, but they only gave me a $3500 credit limit.  I
requested an increase but was denied due to "insufficient account
history".  I called and expalined that while this card was brand new, I
have another card with a $10,000 limit that I have never even been late
on etc.  The person I talked to was rude, kept asking the same
questions over and over and when I asked for his supervisor he insulted
me and cut me off.

I called back, waited my turn again, and asked for the customer service
manager.  When she came on the line she would only identify herself by
her first name and was of no help with the insulting and hanging up
issue and told me that the fact that I had been a customer with them
for all those years had no bearing on this second card because it was a
new card. I further expalined the situation and even told her she could
reduce the limit on my other card if it would help and she said it
would not help, and that my history with the other account with them
had no bearing on this second account. I felt like I was talking with
people who were not worth my time and certainly not worth what ever
they were being paid, even though I am pretty sure the manager at least
was an American.

I guess I will use my Citicard for the purchase.  1% of $8000 is $80
and maybe that is better than a $400 rebate towards another crappy GM
vehicle.  The 5% rebate had been a good marketing tool for GM keeping
people like me buying GM, but maybe after I use the rebate I have on my
original card I will start looking at other makes of cars and trucks.
Maybe a Ford F150 will take the place of my GMC when I decide to
repalce it. I do like my Citicard and have always been treated very
well by their customer service.

Jeff
