Hello all,
First I noticed Jessica from CC joining the list. Welcome!

Second, wonder if you folks have any suggestions for CCSingapore Day 2012. Last year we had (what i'd call) a valiant first attempt to get the community to contribute & then remix.   Maybe we should try that again. (rats, I still have that summary post in draft).

Personally I think I'll getting band to release our CC album in conjunction with CCSingapore Day or 9 dec (see email below).

Hi all,

Following on from our 4.0 announcement a few days ago, I'm pleased to say that we are also kicking off more formal consultation around plans for CC's global 10th birthday celebrations.

As you know, we've been planning internally for a while, and there has been some discussion on the mailing list. But now we'd like to make sure we've got everyone's input before we make any final decisions.

With your collaboration, we envision a series of celebrations and/or CC-awareness-raising around the world in the months leading up to December, including:

1) regional events and activities, conceived and executed by the CC affiliate network;
2) outreach activities that we organise collectively, which may include, for example, a web campaign, webinars, videos, competitions, resource creation etc

In addition, CC Headquarters will be planning and running:

1) a birthday party in the Bay Area in early December, honoring the launch of the licences on 9 December 2002 (exact location tbd - we are considering Stanford and other venues);
2) a coordinated branding and communication campaign to tie global events together and make sure we get the word out about the celebrations.

To facilitate the planning and discussion process, and to record decisions as they're made, we've started a wiki space for the 10th birthday: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/CC_10th_Birthday. This page will be the central planning hub for affiliates to share ideas and plans, and for HQ to coordinate and communicate about events. The page includes places to record activities and events being run out of HQ and those being run by affiliates, as well as a page for brainstorming ideas for collective activities and events. We've started to populate the last page with some of the ideas that have already been circulated among affiliates.

You can participate by:
  • adding activities or events you and your team are planning to the Affiliate Activities and Events page;
  • sharing ideas for collective events on the 10th Birthday Brainstorming page. Feel free to add any ideas you have, no matter how elaborate, difficult to execute or just plain crazy they might seem. Just write them down and we'll see what we end up with.
  • you can also add any pros, cons or comments you can think of to the ideas we already have on the Brainstorming page.

If you're not comfortable with editing wikis, you can also send your activities or ideas in an email reply to this thread. We want to get as much input and as many ideas as we can, from as many people as possible.

Thanks in advance for your participation and input!
