where are people talking about painting?

I was painting a row of wild bushes with flowers in a mural in my
bathroom today. At first I did flowers here and there at random. Then
I stood back, looked at it, and it didn't look right. So I tried
putting the flowers in clumps, and the clumps in clumps, with some
spaces pretty flower-free. That looked a little better.

Just now I looked to see whether that's a general rule, whether I got
it right, or whether there's some better rule of thumb that I don't
know about. I searched usenet for "flower painting", "painting flowers
in clusters", "painting flowers grouping", but came up empty. That
seems hard to believe. This is a pretty basic issue. Anyone who
paints flowers is going to run into it. Is there really no newsgroup
discussing how to paint flowers? Is it that people who paint flowers
don't post on usenet, or that they post somewhere I don't see, or that
nobody paints flowers anymore, or what?
