Subject: This week at CRASH Space: July 1st - July 8th

Hey CRASHers -

So apparently I goofed. I've been writing up these "This Week at CRASH
Space" emails and the discussion list hasn't been getting them!  For the
time being I'm going to go ahead and send them to both the discussion list
and the announce list,  so please forgive the double post.

We had a FABULOUS six month anniversary week. Hand Made Music on the 25th,
Soft Sensors workshop on the 26th, Mark Frauenfelder on the 30th… and the
CRASHCam to document it all!

This weeks is going to be a bit lot lower key, consider it our hang over...

*Thursday, July 1st 8:00 PM* - To Linux Night or not Linux Night… despite
what I said in the last one of these, our next Linux night is actually not
going to be until July 15th but in the mean time, if your jonesin' to get
your UG meeting on… the LA Chapter Unix User Association of Southern
California, uuasc.org  meets the first Thursday of the month in El Segundo…
(Thanks Jordan… )

*Saturday, July 3rd* - NO MAKE IN Hunh, so beautiful Summer SoCal weekend
days seem to be a bad call for Make In's. Go figure. Looking for other
suggestions as to when to host them, "After Dark" seems to be one
suggestion...

*Sunday July 4th*

Go find some Fireworks!

CBS's link to find some :

Or where to go in Nevada… http://www.alamofireworks.com/
Some CRASHers will be on the crew for La Crescenta… so you can come see us!

Or Make Something!

*Monday, July 5th 8 PM* - Radio Mondays

*Tuesday, June 6th 8 PM* - Member Meeting, we are going to have a bit of a
change to the format of our meetings, so bring your laptops! We're gonna put
you to work but there will be snacks...

A peak into the future:

*July 10th 12-4:30 PM *we have the Mega Take Apart and Swap Meet

Our speaker series continues on *July 14th with Dave Mickey* who is going to
show off the MicePace Maze

MicePaceMaze
Developed at the Center for Integrated Media at the California Institute of
the Arts, MicePace Maze employs the mouse maze concept that scientists use
to test memory. Utilizing this concept, we have created a human mouse maze
with no walls. MicePace Maze players are given audio information through the
use of wireless headphones creating a maze using sound as the walls and
challenging players’ abilities to move through a space with only what they
hear.

Dave Mickey
Through his Integrated Media Designs Mr. Mickey explores new ways to
interact with art and the human form both artistically and technically. Mr.
Mickey holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Mr.
Mickey is an adjunct professor of Integrated Media at CalArts, and an
adjunct professor of theatre sound design at Pomona College. Current
projects include "MicePaceMaze", a human mouse maze without walls, at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, August 2010. “The Medea Project” opening in
Greece May 2011, and recently closed "Jesus Hates Me" at South Coast
Repertory.  Mr. Mickey is a co-founder of MPG Interactive Arts inc., also
the Associate Sound Designer for the Chance Theater. Mr. Mickey was the 2007
winner of the Robert E. Cohen Sound Achievement Award, a national award in
sound design sponsored by United States Institute of Theatre Technology.
2008/09 Garland Awards: 3 Honorable Mentions, and 3 Editor Choice Awards
from Make Magazine for his project MicePaceMaze. For more information about
