Forecast for Wednesday looks promising for Bingen or CLO.

For Bingen forecast shows a lapse rate to 4-5K ft. by 2pm, 6K ft by 5pm.  Winds are to be light 0-5mph. Data for wind direction is mixed, between NOAA, WUG, SPARKs, MM5, and XCSkies. Lift rates upto 800ft/min.  What is interesting, XCSkies shows a -5 thermal index, similarly to last Thursdays forecast when pilots got to 5K ft.

For CLO, forecast shows winds light 5-10 WNW before 2pm, increasing to +10 after 2Pm and 10-15mph by 5pm.  XCSkies shows a -2 thermal index, indicating strong thermals at the clear cuts.  MM5 indicates soaring altitudes to +2K ft.

Although both areas should be good flying, my first choice is Bingen for Wednesday. Meeting at LZ by Noon-1pm.
Second choice is CLO.

Will check forecast in AM.  Any one interested also ?

A few of us are headed to Bingen tomorrow, probably leaving around 10 from Portland.

Kutch looks awesome also with soaring altitude to 6K ft. but I'm getting mixed data on wind direction.
Bald Butte is showing soaring altitude to 9K ft.Wednesday, but also getting mixed data on wind direction.

What the forecasts have in common is the winds are light.
Will check in the morning.

Hard to say Kutch for me, seems like a strong onshore at the coast and strong N in the coast range (that said if the soaring forecast, the sky and winds look good in the morning I 'd be tempted), my favorite is a few days of heat and a slight push from the coast with a little bit of marine air sneaking in. The current forecast discussion seems like Thursday could be a good or great Kutch day.

Just careful launching your bottle rockets always point them away from the wing you are flying(unless on final approach)

I can't go tomorrow. If you do go to Bingen, get your radio charged up and try to have some chase vehicle available.  Last Thursday it would have been possible to fly from Bingen south to Bald Butte, west into the gorge, and I think E at least to Lyle.  It was easy to get above the hills east of Hood River and then back up over the Bingen Launch.
For newer pilots: the lift all came from reasonably strong but fairly small and fairly widely spaced thermals. Hardly any ridge lift.  Not scary, and dependable enough if you used them skillfully. Educational air.  Note that a lot of sled rides happened last Thursday throughout the soaring session.
