Subject: Re: CPC: Flight report: up and down at Cliffside 3/22/08

Yep, Saturday was on the strong side.

Dan and Doug were in the air when Kelly, Tom and I showed up.  I had a short
flight and top-landed when it felt like things were backing down.

Jacques, Dan, Doatie, Todd, Brad & I hung out on launch for a bit while
Kelly worked with Tom on his kiting  and when they opted to head down to the
river, I decided to fly out and meet them.

I had no problem maintaining my altitude all the way out to the river and
ended up pulling big ears to get down.  My tracklog (posted in Leonardo)
shows the almost verticle descent and the brief moment I popped out of big
ears and immediately started climbing again.

The strong conditions gave me the opportunity to practice the B-line stall,
high-wind landing technique.  Great way to get the wing on the ground and
disabled!

Flights were short, (less than 40 minutes total) but it was great to be in
the air after an extended business trip.

Tom and I did some kiting (with Kelly coaching) down by the Dalles and I
woke up yesterday barely able to move.
