John Benedict and I launched around 2:00 PM along with a new pilot, Chris from Portland. Nice to get out in the sunshine after a week of mostly rain in Portland. Light west winds, sunshine and very weak thermals gave us 30-45 minute flights surfing at the point and catching those monster 100 fpm thermals coming off the parking lot of the new building under construction west of the inlet.
It’s been a while since I have flown at Bingen. Lots of new construction going on. The grass field across from the park is now gravel and mostly occupied by trailers and there seem to be lots more construction planned from the work being done on the roads. The attached picture shows some of the changes.
