Both sites look OK today, some conflicting forecasts as usual. If we can get 4 pilots and 2 cars going I am willing to try Detroit. If not, Kutch is a lot shorter drive and we can meet at the crossroads. Mark

I agree with your assessment, Mark, as its prob either Kutch or Detroit.
NOAA shows Kutch with a bit of NW in it but the MM5 shows slight NE, which is better. XC Skies shows slight NW as well but decent TI.
Detroit looks better. Light winds, though also potentially NW (does that work there?) and the TI is better.
Bald Butte looked pretty good too.
I'd love to try Detroit as I never have but I like Kutch too.
I'm liking the Kutch forecasts better... maybe because it's closer,
but also because on MM5 I see lift to maybe 5500' at Detroit and maybe
4500' at Kutch, and the Hoover Ridge launch is almost 2000' higher
than Kutch.
But, I'm up for either.

Well I say let's meet at the Kutch crossroads at 1pm. So far there is Eric, Alan and me. The forecast is for stronger N and more sun toward mid afternoon so getting up to launch at 1:30 seems about right. Eric and Alan, you guys are both on the east side so I suggest you carpool. I'll have my SUV to take us up to launch. Please reply or call before noon to confirm! Mark

The best part of the flying today was the socializing. 3 guys took sledders, (Alan, Dave B, Ryan) while the rest of us stood around waiting for a decent cycle which never came so we left.
Nice people like visiting pilot Will, Newportian Ryan, Mike on the sail plane frequency, made it enjoyable, but Mark S ended up with all the cheese Dave brought. No fair! I LOVE cheese! Fiddle stix.
