Many of you missed some GREAT flying this past weekend down at the Lakeview Festival for Hangs and PG pilots!  It was my first time down there... heard a number of good things about the event.  There was definitely some variety and challenges to test your skills at XC.

Kim and I headed out for our first stop at the "Crater"... if you have not seen that natural beauty - it is amazing and all I could think of was PPG - not that you could, but like we all do - we look at everything from a flying perspective!! :)

I attached some pictures from Sugar Hill in CA, Black Cap (over seeing Lakeview) and Abert's Rim.  Had a number of CPC members there... had a few pictures of Tom N launching from Black Cap - Jim B and I off Black cap and a series of Sugar Hill pics.... launch, 5 mile initial gap to cross, moving up the lake and then, at 9,000+ Lakeview was in site!  Pretty cool flying from CA to OR... 25+ miles on my first XC, went over 11,000 ft for the first time and landed in Lakeview!

Jim Baldo had some REALLY good xc flights and nice to learn from all the pilots that were there from other areas.  Another site that was significantly different was Abert's Rim... I only got the "fun" of hiking it (sun was setting), but many got the thrill of flying it.  Pictures do not really do it justice.

Hunter's Lodge was fun to stay at... Jim (the owner) was helpful, the Chamber of Commerce and local support for a BBQ dinner / drivers / spectators!  You should mark your calendars if you want to try some good XC!
