Online bidding starts today and runs through next Saturday, August 25th. Online bidding will close Saturday morning and in-person bidding will continue until 7:00 pm Saturday evening. Even if you can't make it to the fly-in you can still bid on the auction items. If there are any questions about the auction feel free to contact me.

Four days until the Pine Mountain Fly-in and the long-range forecast is looking favorable for the weekend. "Long term...Friday night through Tuesday night...models are starting to come better in line with the extended. After the passage of the upper level low Friday...an upper level ridge will begin to rebuild over the area."
The original road to Frankie's Flying Farm is open once again so we won't need to use the alternate road we used last year. Here's a map showing the route to the Flying Farm and the "L" where glass-off flying typically happens.

The online auction is happening this week and half the items have bids so far. New items have been added since the last update so if you looked over the weekend take another look.
http://www.desertairriders.org/auctionitems.php
New this year is the "Buy It Now" feature that allows you to buy an item immediately for 80% of the Retail Price. In-person bidding on the auction items will continue at the Flying Farm during the day on Saturday.

The Pine Mountain Fly-in starts tomorrow so I'm sending a last update with a few more details. Josh Harbick designed the Pine Mountain Fly-in t-shirts this year and they're a takeoff on the vintage Mountain Dew logo. The t-shirts turned out well and although I don't have a photo here's a vintage Mountain Dew t-shirt to give you an idea. The
Pine Mountain Fly-in t-shirts will be available Saturday in the DAR store located in the main cabins at the Flying Farm.
Magadalyn Hasse created a beautiful cake for dessert Saturday evening (photo attached). It's a white cake with chocolate and caramel inside. The top of the cake says, "There's no place like Pine" and features paragliders and cumulus clouds. Magadalyn's business "The Sweet Tooth" makes a desserts and confections for special occasions and her cheesecakes are available at Newport Avenue Market in Bend.

Other companies (pilots) donating food and beverages for the fly-in are Cascade Lakes Brewing (John Van Duzer) and Reser's Fine Foods (Doug Peck). Thanks to all who donated!

The online auction will continue until 9:00 am Saturday morning, then in-person bidding will be available in the DAR store Saturday afternoon and evening until 7:00 pm. Winners can pick up auction items any time after 7:00 pm.

We'll also be having a raffle with over $800 of prizes. Raffle tickets can be purchased Saturday at the DAR store.

Subject: RE: Pine Mountain Fly-in update

Saturday produced some good flying at Pine Mountain, but today looks blown out. I got out to Pine Mountain around 1:00pm Saturday and saw a gaggle of gliders over the peak. Pilots landing at the Flying Farm later in the afternoon reported one to two hour flights, with an inversion 1000' or so above launch that capped the thermals. During the evening session many pilots were able to bench up from the training hill launch to the top of the mountain. I counted 30 gliders in the air at one point. Here are a few photos taken Saturday, and I'll put together a photo album with more photos soon.
