Subject: Where to fly Saturday

Analysis of Chehalem:
Chehalem looks good according to WUG but the pressure differentials between Peterson Butte, McMinville through Hillsboro only show 0.01 inHg.  So, wind flow looks too light.

MM5 shows 0-5knots but a lapse rate to +3K ft after 2pm.  XcSkies shows great thermals also, light winds all day.   The dopler radar shows the cloud cover could dispate by early afternoon (maybe by 2pm).  That would allow the lapse rate to potentially come true.  But soaring would be totally dependent on being able to work those thermals.

Coastal Analysis:
WUG shows promissing wind conditions but the pressure diff between Lincoln City to Garibaldi only shows 0.01inHg. So, wind strength is too light for soaring.  MM5 shows 0-5knts with a really low inversion.  XcSkies shows light winds all day but increasing by 5pm to 5-10pm.

Since I live close to Chahalem, If the cloud cover does dissipate I plan to give Chehalem Ridge a try.  I suspect that will be by 2pm.

I got some work todo but if cloud cover dissipates and I can get up to the Ridge sooner I will post an update.

 Dave

Dave I think your right. I want to go to Oceanside, but it doesnt look
good. Oceanside cam shows glass, clouds not bad, but that presure south to
north is sad.AND updated mm5 is not good for anywhere. Not like friday at
all. Chehalem may be it. Is it clearing at all?
