Jeff,
I'm hosting the CPC website on my GoDaddy account. I've hosted many websites there for many years and this is the first significant outage. I realize some people don't like GoDaddy, but the same can be said about many other hosts as well.

Godaddy is a scummy slime ball company. I would be thrilled to help you migrate the site to non-slime balls.
Are we hosting the actual pages with them or just using them for name registration?

Jeff,
I hope we can agree to disagree on this. GoDaddy has been easy to use and more reliable than some other hosts I've used over the years. I don't see a compelling reason to switch.
And for anyone who isn't familiar with the hosting arrangement for the CPC website, I host it for free on my personal GoDaddy account so the club doesn't have to pay anything for the website.

Just replied with more details off list, but feel I should respond to the list that GoDaddy is particularly terrible. Today's Gawker article on the outage gives a little primer and has the title "Despised Web Hosting… Company Goes Down", if that gives you any idea of GoDaddy's special place:http://gawker.com/5941990/despised-web-hosting-company-godaddy-crashe... And there are many hosting services that are liked and respected.
So as I said, I am more than happy to help make a transfer!

And to be clear, I'm not questioning anyone on _this_ lists morals (I mean, we're PG pilots! They are impeccable! And Pat Hajak is not on this list… ;-)
I am simply offering my own time, free of charge, to move from this objectively terrible company—which, btw, has high prices and an inferior UI—to companies folks can feel pleased giving their money to.
Now that I understand that MY money isn't going to them, I'm not up in arms, just offering volunteer time.

I'm sure they've served many well, but after spending hours on the phone
and finally countering with complaints filed with the ICANN to get my
domain transferred, I'll opt out on their services in the future... forever.

Hmm...I've used godaddy for DNS services for years (not hosting, just DNS).
I've found them to be far more reliable and much more reasonably priced
than the other providers I've used. I didn't realize that I was should be
doing background checks on the company executives when I was choosing a
provider.
Dang, now I've just got to empty the laundry basket:
- I use godaddy.
- I eat meat (but I only eat vegetarian cows)
- I drink coffee without checking on its provenance.
- I have gotten lucky a time or two while paragliding.
However:
- I keep my reserve pack up-to-date.
- If I bake chocolate chip cookies I share.
- I've been known to provide beer in the LZ to those in need.
