Oleg, the coordinates of the MM5 link you sent indicate a location closer to Mt Hood area. That could be the reason for such a good looking lapse rate and consistent wind direction.

45.3551 -122.9975 is Chehalem launch.
Copy and paste into Google Maps to verify.
Using the sounding generator centered at Chehalem launch, I got a similar picture to Oleg's.
I think I'm going to stay in town and get to Chehalem around 2:00 - 3:00.
See you there, Oleg?

Hmm...xcskies shows a different forecast than the MM5 that Oleg posted. The
xcskies forecast is weird. The GFS model shows winds light and out of the
West. NAM and RAP models show winds light and out of the NW or NNW
depending on the model. I think the thing they all agree on is the winds
will be light.

Hey, it's very simple: light base wind on launch + a thermal cycle (if
you are lucky and time it right) and you're a few feet above. And if
you are lucky again you catch something and start working it (the
diagram shows a possibility). Definitely not a ridge soaring day. If
not, it's a sledder and I have no problem with that since I haven't
flown in about 3 weeks.
Chehalem is close and I like the scenery.
As to UofW GFS MM5 - this is in my opinion the most reliable source of
forecast for this area. Nothing comes close to it.
