Friday I had to leave the jobsite to go for an hour drive to pick up
materials, torture as it was a light wind day and the weekend looked
dubious. At 3:30 I was able to leave work and go hike to Lee's Launch in
the Franklin Mts.. The plan was to land on the green grass at the
country club. I had to work hard at first but was soon thermalling up
with swallows in light thermals with a little ridge lift. The pictures
don't do justice and unfortunately I bumped my program dial and some
photos were low resolution and on the wrong settings but at least I
noticed and changed it back. It was nice to land on grass for a change
and some golfers watching my approach from the 19th hole came out to
offer me a drink in the club house. The mastodon is easy to spot even
though I did not get the best view point, can anyone spot the red rock
thunderbird on the mountain?
