Gary Boggs called me this evening with quite a story-- he was flying his sailplane near Hood River today in strong west winds and good ridge lift with lots of thermal convection, with 2 other gliders-- no one was dressed for or expecting a high flight-- they started finding some signs of wave-- and eventually ended up very unexpectedly with vario pegged at over 2000 fpm up and ended up over 23,000', and very cold. I had some thoughts of going to Hood River today too-- could have been the flight of a lifetime. Glad he got a good one.
