Hi Everyone,
If you've flown XC from Woodrat, you've likely landed out and that often meant that you've been a guest of a very generous landowner as you pack up and figure out retrieves.  One such landowner (and popular LZ if headed towards Applegate Lake) has had some very bad luck and has lost their house in a fire.  Were trying to provide some relief in the way of cash donations and clean up labor.  If you can help, it would be very much appreciated.  See below.  Also please forward to any list or pilot you think could help.

To all club members/pilots who fly Woodrat Area:
 
Our Mule mountain LZ landowners suffered a tremendous loss this past week.
Jason and Liza Smith's home burned to the ground.
The Smiths' will have a long and emotional journey ahead of them
 
During the club meeting Thursday night it was unanimously voted to send out a cash collection request for the Smith's.
It was also voted the club would match the donation amount up to $500 and offer in the near future a work party for fire clean up and/or whatever labor would be beneficial to the Smith when the time is appropriate.
 
Paul will reach out to the Smith's with the labor offer when he delivers the cash collection check for the landowners.
 
Thank You to all members who quickly opened their pocketbooks last night at the meeting.
We've already collected $683.97! not including the $500 from the club.
 
There are several ways for pilots to reach out with donations to our Mule LZ landowners.

 

RVHPA will be the stewards for this collection.

 

1) Paypal to RVH...@gmail.com

2) Cash or check given to me, Paul, or mailed to RVHPA, PO BOX 1292, MEDFORD, OR 97501 (prefer checks in mail only)

3) Square up for credit/debit cards if you see me on the mountain, my device is for club use only, deposits directly to club

    account.

 

I'll be collecting funds until July 29th. Allowing me a day or two for processing all donations a consolidated check.

Paul will give the collection check to the Smith's on August 1st.

 

Please pass the word, landowners are an integral part of the paragliding communities.

Reed, Dave and I have agreed to send a $150 donation from the Cascade
Paragliding Club. It's on its way as I write this. That's the maximum
amount the pres., vp and treasurer can spend for a 'time critical
expenditure' without a club vote. We will discuss and perhaps vote on
a further donation at the next meeting, on Tuesday August 7th. If you
can help out on your own that would be great too - see Kelley's
contact information (he's the RVHPA treasurer) below and note he's
collecting funds until the 29th.
