The PWC is over, and the Open Distance Nationals are poised to begin if the wind eases.  Today's "task" was successful, involving some 50 people searching for the still-missing Brit.  He and a Venezuealan disappeared about when the final task was cancelled due to high wind.  The Venezuelan was found at 3 AM, but two cold/wet/windy nights and two days later the Brit was still missing.  Then on the third day he somehow got up and started walking, despite extensive injuries.  That's when the blackhawk helicopter crew found his gear, and soon found him.  Unfortunately, all us hill-climbers were searching some 25 miles away.  Great advertisement for SPOT trackers (vs the GSM cell phone trackers used by the PWC), and huge respect for the wild spaces of Idaho.  Dave C, I, and a bunch of others got our exercise by climbing almost 2000 feet of very steep hillside and getting back down again, more or less intact.  There was a party of relief and celebration tonight to kick off the OD Nats.
