Time to think about our website. Here are some rough goals to think
about and improve upon:

* Explanatory things
- what is coworking
- where is it/directions
- links to other coworking spaces
- how much does it cost/what do you get
- how does it work/policies

* Build community
- group blog
- user profiles/who is there/what people are interested in
- aggregator (pull in RSS feeds from personal blogs of coworkers)
- calendar for events
- desk reservation

A note about local vs. non-local: I think it will be best to keep this
site focused on San Francisco and leave the non-local things to the wiki
(and leave San Francisco things off the wiki).

Much of this is straightforward to do a rough build-out in Drupal. I say
rough because we will probably (and should) demand a well-designed and
thought-out site, which ends up being a series of small issues that take
a lot of work at the end of the day.

I'd like to:
- Get some consensus on goals
- Do some navigation and page layout sketches
- Build out a basic site in a staging area
- Once it looks barely good enough, push it live
- Incrementally improve

I don't want to, and don't have time to properly, do this all myself.
Please provide feedback on the proposed goals (especially non-anchors)
and process. Let me know if you can help out with the navigation and
layout sketches.

I'd like to keep this process moving, so I'll plan on doing some
sketches for about an hour on Monday afternoon in the office, stop by if
you want to help (I'll post them to the list in some form after that).

I agree with neil.
Its time to see if we cant make Teh Space work.
we need to set up the site so people understand how to join us.

we have a big choice tio make soon:
do we want to take over that big room upstairs? it'll be availble at
the end of July.
if we do, we definitely need to get more paying people since our rent
will go up.

Props for getting started on this, Neil.

I would come by to help on Monday if I weren't still in New York. Let
me know if there's anything I can do to help from offsite

There is a rough outline of the site architecture at
http://coworking.pbwiki.com/SF%20Website. Let me know what you think.

Looks good. Make sure we include some pictures of the place.

I expect pictures to be put in the content and blog posts.

We could do our own photo gallery, but I'm not sure how useful that
would be. Maybe bringing in some picture feeds from Flickr (or whoever
else has them) next to the [blog] aggregator.

Ryan and I talked to Neil about this new site.
I really like the outline.

So we will work with Neil on the wording of the pages.
We'll make videos of the space.
We'l set up some suggested prices.

Just so its clear, we're at the point where we need to make Teh Space
sustainable.
Right now, there are only 4 of us who work here regulalry...as well as
only a handful of us paying the very reasonable rent.

we need more people willing to step up and join us. Teh Space is truly
a good place. Full Kitchen, a park across the street, lots of
light.....and now CLEAN.

its now or never folks if we want this space to be successful.

Im in for the long haul and would be in the space most of the week if I wasn't in Paris this month ;)  Having a constant stream of potential members is really important and something I could never quite get going with the old coworking space. Events and parties might be the best way.

Best,

I'm back in SF finally. Is there anything I can do to help with the
site, Neil?
Writing copy, helping with the staging build, messing with Drupal
modules or anything?

The outline looks good. I might add a calendar that would tell users
when various keyholders are "on duty" and when events are scheduled for
the space. (Maybe the Drupal Event module?)
