Hey all

Wondering if any of you are using electrical outlets that hang from the ceiling. I know I have seen this before... Do you have any pics you could share? Great if you can post, or otherwise send direct to me eli [at] socialinnovation [dot] org.

(we're looking at options for design in our new space)

Thanks!!!

Seen a number of spaces that do it.  Check out American Underground for example

We considered them but decided that in our space they would not work. All of our furniture is movable, so it's hard to know where to place them. Plus if they were hanging over a desk and the desk was moved, the cable and outlet would be blocking where people would be walking.

Hi Eli,

We were going to drop power and internet down through TelePower Poles ... but it just didn't feel right in the end.  Our better solution was to mount plug mold along the top of the black Galant Ikea dividers.  Here is the product link.  http://www.legrand.us/wiremold/raceway/plugmold-systems/2000-pm-steel-multioutlet-system/2000-pm-steel-multioutlet-system.aspx#.UPlZKaUucwo

you can see some pictures in the TOUR > PHOTOS section at www.mojocoworking.com   (Actually - you can't see them as clearly as I thought.)

Craig,

Where is the power that is provided to these plug molds coming from? In one of the photos it looks like there's a conduit coming down along the concrete pillars. Is that power for the "floating" workgroups (versus the ones that are more along the wall)?

Good eye, Alex.  We were originally going to drop 2 - 3 tele/power poles down from the red soffit ... but in the end felt like that would limit any reorganization of the desk layout.  So we ran conduit down the concrete pillars (on the insides of all 3 upstairs between the desks) and then bought the plug mold in black to ride along the top edge of the dividers.  There is an outlet every 6" - 8" the entire distance of the desks.
