...which will eventually become a coworking space (more like a
clubhouse, to borrow from Alex of Indy Hall), after we pull enough
cool, brilliant people together who love to work around and with each
other. Please let me know if you're interested in being one of these
people!

If you've been around ABQ for a while, you might know me from ProLaw
Software, Seventh Goddess, or Black T-Shirt Monday, and if so you know
I have a pretty good track record of bringing awesome people together
and creating an environment for them to thrive while being fabulously
themselves, individually and collectively.

Thanks, Alex, for the very informative session on Sunday! Thanks to
all the awesome coworking space owners in Melbourne, Australia who let
me visit their spaces last week and let me crash their lunch meeting!
And thanks to all the members of this Google Group (I've been reading
for a while) who so generously share everything! Hope I'll be able to
give back to this global community as much as it's giving me.

That's my cheap first pass at a name. :)

Thanks for the shout outs, and glad Sunday's workshop was valuable!

Naming the space: next time you get everyone together, put all the name ideas up on a board. Let people put votes next to the ones they like.

There's a decent chance you won't use any of them, or you'll not pick the most popular one-- but there's a decent chance somebody out there knows the perfect name, and they get credit forever for naming it!

Best of luck!

Cheers,
Tony

+1 to this.

Indy Hall's name came from one of our members as well.

Thanks, will do! I've been asking everyone individually, and have
compiled a nice long list of possibles, but I think you're right: the
perfect one is going to spring out of the group.

The naming thing is proving to be a big challenge for us, too, but now at least we have a fun dinner-party story to go along with the challenge.
The building's address is #81.
We were going to call it Cowork81, and decorate with photos of the number 81 in various forms.
Then we found out (completely by accident) that "81" was the symbol of a motorcycle gang in the middle of a turf war in our town.
So now our name is no longer Cowork81. Bullet holes are not quite the ambience we're going for.

Just to continue with the naming stories. Our space is Locus
Workspace, which I loved. But every third person thinks it's Locust
Workspace, and wonders why we would name our space after ravaging
Biblical insects. And I was wondering why we didn't have more German
members (the Czech Republic borders Germany, and we have a very
international membership), until I learned that Locus is slang for
bathroom in Germany. It's hard to predict how a name will work.
