Roanoke welcomes its first Business Lounge downtown—a beta test
location
With the purpose of supporting entrepreneurs and freelancers
Roanoke, VA—May 17, 2012--Business Lounge, a co-working community for
entrepreneurs in the Roanoke area, will be opening soon as a beta test
location in downtown Roanoke. This co-working community is ideal for
freelancers, start-ups, and work-remote companies who aren’t quite
ready for a permanent office space, but would like the professionalism
of a downtown location.
The idea of co-working may be new to Roanoke but it is booming around
the world. Plans are already in place for expansion of Business Lounge
to accommodate the expected growth of membership beyond the capacity
of the beta test location.
Recently, a Quartet of freshman Virginia Delegates met with Roanoke
business owners to discuss importance of promoting entrepreneurship
and job growth in the Commonwealth. The Quartet established the
Business Development Caucus with intentions of encouraging
entrepreneurship and job opportunities in the state of Virginia. This
committee, in partnership with Governor Robert F. McDonnell’s Year of
the Entrepreneur Program, has support from the Governor to strive to
keep Virginia’s tradition alive by providing jobs and opportunities
for entrepreneurs of the Commonwealth. The Business Lounge concept
would greatly benefit this mission.
Members of the Business Lounge are provided with necessary amenities,
plenty of workspace and a feeling of community. This co-working
atmosphere can be more conducive to productivity than working alone at
home or in a coffee shop where sensory overload can be problematic.
Furnishings for the Business Lounge have been provided by The Office
Outlet, located in Roanoke.
