Hi everyone,

I wanted to wait to post this to the group until we had more details
locked down, but it seems you all want to know any details that I have
at the moment on this subject!

I work in the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View as a program
coordinator for NASA CoLab ( http://colab.arc.nasa.gov ) and one of my
main responsibilities is to head up coworking environments. My team
recently moved into a new coworking space in Mountain View that is
open to the public and we're still in the process of forming all the
details and "house rules" as well as making it more awesome overall.
We'll have an "open house/coworking day" soon, and I will *definitely*
announce that on this group when it's confirmed.

Our website in progress for coworking details (past/present, virtual/
physical) at NASA can be found at http://colab.arc.nasa.gov/coworking
. You can subscribe to NASA CoLab's blog feed at http://colab.arc.nasa.gov/blog/feed
.

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime, I'll do my best
to answer what I can!

Cool... I'm very curious to learn, in particular, NASA's goals in establishing multiple spaces.

If that's indeed something currently in progress, keep in mind that this group has thousands of people across hundreds of cities around the world, many of whom are very well-connected in their respective communities... so interfacing with them as you move forward would likely prove beneficial.

Okay, I'm getting excited. Love NASA. Looking forward to seeing what develops!

If this provides ANY way to get involved with the space program, the nerdy side of me is interested.

On the other hand, I echo Tony in the fact that...most of the existing communities probably have space-nerds worth tapping into, and rather than providing facilities, it'd likely be most effective to provide programs for existing space members/communities to get involved with. Less work for everyone, and one step closer to consumer-powered space exploration!

Ariel,

Cool! You know that NASA had a desk at both The Hat Factory and Citizen Space in the early days? Unfortunately, they didn't use it (mostly because of the commute, I think). But the idea was that they would start there and then open their own someday. Congrats for doing that!

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone - much appreciated! I'll post
more on those topics when I have a spare minute.

Tara - I do know! I think it was mostly Andrew Hoppin that was using
it? The commute *does* suck! Been meaning to catch up with you on this
topic, so hopefully I can stop by Citizen Space in the next week or
2 :)
