Beehive Baltimore Proposed Membership Pricing
Beehive Baltimore is based on community and sustainability.  Towards those ends, we propose adopting a pricing model that is open enough to encourage wide participation by the community, while supplying sufficient revenue to insure long term sustainability.

We are currently proposing the following membership levels and invite your comments:

BEEHIVE VISITOR – $25.00/Day

  • Drop-In Day Pass for a Visiting or Prospective Coworker
  • Subject to Space Availability
  • May be converted to Beehive Basic membership

BEEHIVE BASIC – $25.00/Month

  • Up to 1 Day Pass Per Month
  • Additional Day Passes Available at $15.00/Day
  • Includes invitations to all Beehive Baltimore Events
  • Includes optional listing in the public member directory

WORKER BEE – $175.00/Month

  • Up to 3 Days per Week at a Shared Desk
  • Additional Day Passes Available at $15.00/Day
  • Includes invitations to all Beehive Baltimore Events
  • Includes optional listing in the public member directory
  • Limited equipment storage available
  • Personal access card

BEEHIVE RESIDENT – $275.00/Month

  • Dedicated, Permanent Desk at Beehive Baltimore
  • Full Time, 7 Day-a-Week Access
  • Includes invitations to all Beehive Baltimore Events
  • Includes optional listing in the public member directory
  • Limited equipment storage available
  • Personal access card

Some fine print:

  • Memberships are non-transferable and may not be shared
  • Monthly memberships may not be pro-rated and must be prepaid for a minimum of one month
  • A security deposit equal to one month of membership is required and will be returned upon termination of membership in good standing.
  • Non-resident memberships are subject to space availability, with priority given to Worker Bee, Basic, and then visitors.
  • All members must adhere to a basic agreement outlining rules of conduct.

FOUNDING/CHARTER MEMBER SPECIAL OFFER
Beehive Baltimore wants to launch with a splash, so we're offering some special incentives for people willing to commit early.  If you commit by December 29, 2008, we will offer a 10% discount on Beehive Basic, Worker Bee, and Beehive Resident memberships.  This also includes a discount on the required security deposit.

  • Beehive Basic Charter Member  - $45.00 (1 Month, including security deposit)
  • Worker Bee Charter Member  - $315.00  (1 Month, including security deposit)
  • Beehive Resident Charter Member - $495.00 (1 Month, including security deposit)
  • Minimum commitment for charter members is six months

Charter members will be commemorated with a plaque at Beehive Baltimore and will have the opportunity to have their names or company logos on a commemorative T-shirt.

Please send any questions to Beehive Baltimore organizer David Troy (davetroy@gmail.com).

I have a hunch that additional pricing options will garner more
subscriptions.

Until I can be shown that it's not a good idea, I'm a proponent of
additional pricing options such as:
(all terms 'use or lose', add'l $15 day passes available, exact #days may
need tweaking):

$70/mo 3 days/mo

Dan -- The proposed rates are the same as at IndyHall, and from
talking with them, they would argue that their community was in
roughly the same shape as ours when they started. As for New York,
our rates are half or less than anything there.

While the pricing isn't firm yet, part of what we need to achieve here

The prices for worker bee and beehive resident seem a little high for
Baltimore. We're not Phili and we're definitely not New York. Space is
pretty cheap here. Though it depends on the complete overhead of
course.
