Here are the notes that I got from the last meeting. Please feel free to correct any inadvertent errors or add any missed information.
C.A.M.T.A. minutes: 7 p.m. Wednesday 16 May 2012
Attendance: Bob & Rachel O., Bart B., Maynard F., Dana A., Karen T., John R., George & Connor H., and Jean T.
Scribe: Geoff F.
- Announcement: Bob and Rachel will be unable to attend c.a.m.t.a. gatherings until after 2 July.
- A.Q. Status: Ordinances would be necessary for the placement of an A.Q. on the county ballot; therefore, placement on the November ballot isn’t likely to be possible.
- there may also be confusion with the city A.Q.
- concern about effects of a potential loss expressed
-
petition to be turned-in when ~2,200 signatures gathered
- may be wise to mention to folks that the A.Q. won’t be on this November’s ballot
-
agreed that the asterisk and footnote regarding contact information should be removed from the petition
- agreed that wording regarding the timing of submission of petition signatures for ballot consideration should be open-ended (i.e. no specific date as of yet).
- Rural Organizing Project annual event report: Bob and Rachel attended. Common Cause rep.-mediated ‘break-out’ (small group) discussions regarding the ‘Citizens United’ Supreme Court decision. Bob and Rachel distributed M.T.A. hand-outs.
- Steering Committee idea: whoever shows-up to our meetings helps to steer the C.A.M.T.A.
- Committees: possibly take-up timelines for goals at the next meeting
- a schedule of tabling staffing needs to be posted (Bart has since created one at: http://tinyurl.com/camtatable).
- post known tabling opportunities on C.A.M.T.A. googlegroup
- would be nice to begin consideration of/work on new signage with broad appeal
- potluck to be planned
- expression of the desire to wait until schools are out for the summer (~17 June) so that more people can attend (Karen T. and family have since offered to host one at their home. Scheduling link: http://www.doodle.com/w2dqaiq4bws8tuuk)
- T-shirt: Geoff will research costs more.
- Announcements and meetings:
- Bart and Maynard have agreed to form a Campaign and Publicity Committee
- Maynard will send announcements of future C.A.M.T.A. meetings to the G.T.
- Bart will notify the ‘Co-op Thymes’ of future C.A.M.T.A. meetings
- Perhaps all in C.A.M.T.A. can put up announcements of future meetings where and whenever they can -- Bart says that flyers are available (??)
- agreed that, henceforth, C.A.M.T.A. is to meet every first and third Wednesdays at 7 pm -- still at the U.U. for the foreseeable future.
-
agreed to welcome/check-in with new people who attend C.A.M.T.A. meetings
- ‘GMO-Free Benton County’: Dana, who is actively organizing with the ‘GMO-Free Benton Co.’ effort , provided an update:

- a ‘Benton Co. Bill of Rights’ campaign effort to place an (initiative?) on the county ballot in May 2013
