What is the plan for graphics? Are they going to be re-made in higher
resolution? I'd like to go through all the graphics in the game and re-
make them at twice the size, I think that's a reasonable start. I have
no programming knowledge, so I'd have to hand the finished graphics to
someone else to compile them into assets or however it is you include
them in the game! I'm really eager to see how CorsixTH develops, and
I'd like to help it along.

Yes, it would be great to have an artist work on new graphics :)

As far as I know, nobody is currently working on it. There are some
ideas about it, but nothing is set in stone.

1) They need to be higher resolution
2) They need to be scalable, either one big version that scales down
to smaller versions or multiple scale-levels.

Furthermore, I'm no copyright expert but all artwork might need to be
a bit different from the original, just to avoid issues.
But maybe somebody has an idea about that?

Yes, a little different. But I don't think that's very hard to do without
losing the spirit of the game?
I would suggest that you start by doing an example image. :-) Then we can
get it going.
What program do you plan to use?

A couple of words of warning, if you double the resolution of the images, then you effectively quarter the amount of content you can show on the screen, as the number of pixels in your monitor is the same. Also a big hi-res (or vector) image may not always scale as well as you would like, check out this article on why icon-makers don't use SVGs: http://www.pushing-pixels.org/2011/11/04/about-those-vector-icons.html

OpenTTD has a 32bit project that is creating images at double the resolution with a higher colour depth. It looks like they might be making hires images and then shrinking them down for the normal zoom levels, but I wonder if that is really necessary. The standard Theme Hospital zoom level will probably remain the same, so any extra resolution will rarely be seen?

I have heard back from the OpenTTD guys and the idea is to have a separate 32bit image for every zoom level, not to do any scaling of images. If we follow a similar path I don't think there is a need to double the resolution of the existing images unless we are planning on more zoom levels.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been monitoring these emails and hope to contribute some code sometime when I’m not busy (currently finishing a masters). Thought I’d share an error I found trying to place a scanner room.

Apologies if this has already come up.

Cheers,

Laurence

Yes, this is most likely fixed in the new release, but it doesn’t fix old saves. It was fixed around three weeks ago in trunk.
Did it happen in Beta 8 or in trunk? And when did you in that case start the game?

It came up in Beta 8, I started playing not too long ago, maybe January time.

Then it is most likely fixed in 0.01. It’s just that existing saves are not fixed.
