Hi, CFSS, Should you do a show with Megafaun, I'll need a bit of help from you. Not only am I unfamiliar with their music, but WVBR does NOT have any CD's of the band. If you want some airplay, you'll have to come up with same. Thought I should mention this now, while I'm thinking about it.
We have lots of Magpie and Bok.
The only Jean Redpath we have is on vinyl. One or more CD's would seem a good idea here, too.
We have a couple of Bruce Molsky CD's.
Just an update...
Phil -- WVBR's BOUND FOR GLORY, North America's longest running live folk concert broadcast, Sunday nights, 8 - 11 pm, Ithaca, NY, since 1967. Listen live at http://wvbr.com
Phil Shapiro 979 Harford Road, Dryden, NY 13053 607-844-4535 pd...@cornell.edu
Here are the contacts from their website below, if you (Phil) want to ask them directly for CD's for the radio station. Otherwise, if you are asking Reed to ask the agent, does Reed have your WVBR mailing address to give to the agent? (and to put in his new guidelines that he is drawing up for future use?)
Are there other radio stations/copies of the band that Reed should ask for, since this is his first time and he might not be aware? Do you send a copy to the public radio stations and if so, to which DJ's at what addresses? Etc?
When I handle my bookings, I can ask for CD's but then I have to get them to the DJ destination and that can take a while. I find it's often quicker and less work for me if I just send the agent the names and addresses of the DJ's. But it depends on your style and how much contact you have with your DJ's and how quickly. Here's the list I give to performers' publicity people:
Bound for Glory Phil Shapiro WVBR-FM 957 Mitchell Street, Suite B Ithaca, NY 14850
Nonesuch (rotating hosts, and we can't count on them sharing with Phil) WVBR-FM 957 Mitchell Street, Suite B Ithaca, NY 14850
Ken Campbell Saturday Night Folk WSKG 601 Gates Road Vestal, NY 13850
Gene Endres Hobo's Lullaby WICB 118 Park Hall, Ithaca College Ithaca, New York 14850
It's under control, Debra. Part of my publicity duty for over 15 years now. Bill S. has an up-to-date list of regional DJ mailing addresses. He is supposed to e-mail it to the performers or their agents once we've confirmed a show. I do follow-up, contacting the DJs (yes, public radio as well) to see if they received the promo CDs. If not, I put in another request to the performers.
Since Reed is handling the booking for Megafaun, I'll e-mail him the addresses so he can request the promo CD distribution.

With performers who aren't well known around here, I also get CDs to Autumn Leaves, Ludgates. Any suggestions for other venues that might be willing to play our performer CDs?

Be aware that Ludgate's has just changed hands. Don't know if they will continue the same policies or not. I get to meet the new owner, Katie Quinn-Jacobs, next Monday. If I learn anything I will share it.

Haha ... well: right now a lot of cross country skiing :-)
And some part-time consulting work ... publicity and web page kind of stuff .. which I am seeking more of :-)
The new manager at Ludgate Farms is interested in local music, her name is Betsy Appleton. I think Phil has met her and will see her again soon. I have encouraged her and the owners to continue with all CFSS related activities ... ticket sales and etc. CC'ing to Betsy now.

Mike's doing nothing at the moment, except being relieved. I was over there last night for the weekly jam. Officially, he's going to look for a job, type unknown. I think what he really wants is to make a living making music, but that probably isn't going to work. Up in the air.
