We just found out about this filming just before I received your email.  The crew were putting the pylons on the street to block the parking.  I asked what was going on and they informed me there was going to be filming tomorrow.  I told them we had not been notified about this and the crew said there were flyers on the buildings around the corner.  I checked with the neighbour to see if they had got a notice that I may have missed and they confirmed they hadn't received a flyer.

It wasn't too long ago since we had another crew on Shuter.  How many times a year are they allowed to obstruct our lives without benefit to our daily lives?   Gone are the days when we were asked if we objected to the disruptions in writing.

By the way, this explains why the street was been cleaned and washed all day.  It's too bad we have to inhale the dust and dirt 24 hours a day from the Regent construction but when a film crew shows up it justifies cleaning the street.

Cough, cough,
linda

I didn't get a flyer about this - did they distribute flyers on anyone on Shuter ?  Emailing to the relatively few of us on this mailing list,  a "draft" permit  which doesn't say "approved by City of Toronto Film Office",  doesn't constitute proper notice.

you should call the City of Toronto film office to complain:  416-338-3456

Linda has a good point:  if they insist on removal of all parked cars, the least the city could do is clean the street while there are no parked vehicles.  The curb lane literally has 6-12 months of debris and a few inches of mud - the curb lane never gets cleaned.

After confirming that the neighbours didn't get flyers on Monday, I went out a spoke to one of the production crew and let him we were omitted on the distribution.  He said he would get the flyers to us, which obviously he did.

I told him about the dirt and debris situation on the street and he said the trucks weren't moving in until the following evening.  I suggested that it would be a perfect opportunity to have the road cleaned. He agreed to speak to the construction group because the film crew would also appreciate not working in the mud.  I was hoping the construction cleaners would have given the south side of the street the same attention they continually give the north side (sweep & wash, four or five times a session) because the buildup of dirt and garbage has made the street look like a country dirt road.  Oh well, at least it is better than it was.

Hi Bill, I received a flyer concerning the film shoot on Monday.
Be prepared for a few more years of mud and debris before phase 2 is completed.
What also concerns me is the surface condition of Shuter Street.
