Hi all,

Anyone know of a problem (and more importantly, a fix) for this. It
seems that I can not print labels in landscape mode to the HP printer.
Whenever I try, it always prints in portrait mode. This only on the HP.
The really weird thing is that I can print the document to Envoy or
Acrobat, which is created properly, and then print that EVY/PDF file to
the very same printer and it works as it should. Some I am assuming WP9
(SP3) and the 1100 are not playing nice but can not see a reason for it.

Additionally, whenever I attempt to create a new label definition on 8.5
X 11 it will ONLY come up with portrait checked with "landscape" and
"both" grayed out.

Anyone??

Version of WPO2000 (from Help/about within the program)? Version of
Windows? Version of printer driver (assuming you mean HP Laserjet 1100?)?

I suspect a need for some updates, which the above basic info will reveal.

I have the same problem using the same printer. Charles Rossiter worked
hard on this problem with me but was unable to solve it. However he was
able to demonstrate (and so did I) that at least some ink jets will print
landscape labels. I asked Corel for help and they acknowledged the problem
with the following:

>>This issue has been sent up as a Development issue. Please keep an eye on
our Web Site for future patches that might include the fix for this issue.
No further information is available at this time.<<

I have inquired about a fix in SP4 but have not gotten an answer.

The Corel site has an article on SP4 and it does not indicate any solution
for this problem. Check on it at
http://www.corel.com/support/wordperfect/sp4_notes.htm

The amount of information posted in that notice is woefully inadequate.
I don't know if your problem is fixed or not, but please don't rely on
that notice for your information about what is included in the SP4.

Win version is 4.10.2222 A (Win98SE with all critical updates installed
as of yesterday)

The printer dirver is hppta.drv Ver. 4.00

And the WP9 ver is 738

Yes, I know it can. They print just fine on the POS Canon 210 I have as
well as Envoy and Acrobat, as previously stated, so it is obvious that
it is a printer/driver specific issue.

That's just peachy!

Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, and much to their discredit, that is ALL Corel has given
us to go on.

I have urged them twice to provide additional information. The first
time resulted in the posting of the Readme; hopefully more information
will be forthcoming.

This was forwarded from one of our Corel advisors...

=====quote======
Try creating a new Label defintion, but size it 11 x 8.5 (instead of the
original default label definition from Avery or another label definition
standard)...this in effect will 'lanscape' the label page during the
creation process, and should...may...could...print out landscape.

But all I know for sure, is when we tried the same issue with an HP
LaserJet 3, with the original drivers, the new drivers, the PCL and PS
drivers...it wouldn't landscape the labels...but using the same custom
label definition 11 x 8.5 with an HP4050 worked.

Also the notice from the user "ONLY come up with portrait checked with
"landscape" and "both" grayed out" this is accurate..just select any
pre-defined Avery labels, select edit, and change for size...notice you
can change the orientation (Portrait, Landscape or both are all greyed
out)...further...creating from scratch also will not allow to rotate the
orientation, since labels are usually designed for 8.5 by 11
portratit...check out the details on the Label definition called: Avery
TitleFrames Spine 1 1/2 (last one), click on Edit, then Change...notice
it's set to Portrait (although greyed out) but to achieve the
'landscape' printout, it's the size 11 x 8.5 that does it.

I have experienced the problem of not being able to print landscape labels,
either Avery designed or custom designed, with an HP 1100 laser printer.
However, I could print them with an inkjet printer. Others have also
reported that landscape labels can be printed with inkjets printers. Is the
HP 4050 a laser or inkjet printer?

When I contacted Word Perfect, their response was:

>>Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support. With regards to your
issue:

Unfortunately, WordPerfect 9 does not have the ability to print landscape
labels. This may be addressed in a future service pack.<<

In a follow-on exchange, the reply was:

issue:

I don't know if this has been fixed in SP4.
