WordPerfect(R) 7 for Windows(R)
Problem:
When starting WordPerfect (WP) 7 with the Epson Stylus Color 400, 600, 800,
850N or 1200 (core ver 2.17) printer or a Canon BJC-620 (RASTER) as the
Windows 95 default printer, the following PerfectFit font error occurs:
"Error allocating memory for font handling - 15".
Other Associated Error Messages:
"PerfectFit Fonts Out of memory 120"
While selecting the Windows 3.1/95 printer driver for the Epson Stylus
Color 400, 600, 800, 850N or a Canon BJC-620 (RASTER) in WordPerfect 7,
one of the following errors occurs:
"WPWIN7 caused an invalid page fault in module WPWIN7.EXE at 0137:0041e1e4"
"WPWIN7 caused an invalid page fault in module WPWIN7.EXE at 0137:0041dab5"
Answer:
The WPS7_03F.EXE file resolves this problem. The file is found at:
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/WordPerfect/wpwin/70
(WPS7_03P.EXE will also work if all components of the Suite are properly
installed)
Details:
Not all users will get all of the specified errors. The patch is only to
be used on North American (CE or US) versions of WordPerfect 7 for Windows.
For those who cannot use the North American version patch, Epson has
provided the following workaround:
1) Create a dedicated spool directory such as C:\SPOOL. Click Start |
Programs | MS-DOS Prompt. Type CD\ and press Enter. Type MD SPOOL and
press Enter. Type EXIT and press Enter.
2) Click Start | Programs | Epson | Spool Manager. Click Options |
Default Spool Directory. Double-click on the C:\. Scroll down the list of
your directories and highlight Spool. Press OK twice.
3) Click Queue | Setup. There should be a dot next to spool to local
printer and the box where "Use print manager for this port" should be
unmarked. Verify that the spool directory is C:\SPOOL. If not, Click Browse
and then double-click on the C:\. Scroll down the list of your directories
and highlight Spool. Press OK three time, you will be back to the Spool
Manager. Close the Spool Manager.
4) Click Start | Settings | Printers. Highlight the icon for your printer.
Click File | Properties | Details. At the bottom of the Details screen,
click Spool Settings. Click on Print Directly to Printer and click OK.
5) At the bottom of the Details screen, click Port Settings. Unmark both
"Spool MS-DOS Print Jobs" and "Check Port State Before Printing". Click OK.
At the bottom of the Details screen, click OK.
6) Close the Printers box and turn the printer off. Click Start | Shutdown
| Restart the Computer | Yes.
7) After Windows 95 has restarted, disable the Despool Popup window:
* Click Start | Programs | Epson | Spool Manager.
* Click View | Show Despool Popup.
* Close the Spool Manager.
The Stylus must be set as the Default Printer. If you try to select the
Stylus from within WordPerfect, errors will occur. The first job sent to
the printer will receive the font error message. Clear the message. At this
point, all jobs should print without problems.
