This is how I got the scroll wheel of my mouse to work:

I modifier the file: /usr/bin/xwp
Adding at the top the line: imwheel

Note that "-k" for imwheel is made redundant by the script:
/etc/X11/imwheel/startup.conf

Added to the bottom of: /etc/X11/imwheel/imwheelrc

# SERGE
"^WordPerfect -"
None, Up, Page_Up
None, Down, Page_Down
#The following restrict imwheel to specific programs listed in the file
#I don't believe it's strictly necessary. I added it "just in case"
#See comments in the configuration file for further details
".*"
@Priority=-1000
@Exclude
@Repeat

Now restart X or reboot system.

Start xwp normally.
The wheel mouse will only work if you *first* left click on the open
document. If you try the mouse-wheel first, it seems to disable
imwheel. This problem does not exist for Libranet 2.8.1.
