Painter 7 SEEMS to be working fine for me? Anything I should expect?

Just got Painter 7, installed, played with a bit, then d/l update,
updated..then played some more. Nothing weird has happened yet and all the
brushes work great....even the watercolro ones. yes they are a bit slower
than the rest, but probably because they are animated? but all in all so
far, seems to work just as fine as 6.1. but is they any unexpected problems
i should expect?

My system:

Intel P4 1.6ghz, 384megs 800mhz RAMBUS, DFI MB, 40 gig 100 ATA, Wacom
Grapphire1, epson 1250 scanner (very high rez for the money), Canon s600
(great printer! ink lasts forever, high quality, and quiet!)

Yes a big mistake under Mac OS X with a Wacom graphic tablet.
There is no pressure sensitivity. Under Windows it愀 fine.
But you need a very fast machine to work in normal speed.
I扉e tryed Painter 7 under different computers and on my
Athlon 1,4 MHz it愀 the best. I think the animation with the
water colours is a joke. Who need this ? Sure the effects with
the new water colours are great, but too slow.
Another function was better for handling in Painter 6 - the text function
It愀 a little bit curious to work with it in Painter 7. But that愀 my
opinion.

i am going to keep playing with the watercolor tools... they ones that run
seem to digital and not natural....but i guess i can adjust the nature of
the runs somewhere. like i said, just really started playing with thw
watercolor tools, so maybe it will take a little more to get using them
right.

all in all, i like P7 though! much better than photoshop for natural media
tools and i like it better than DeepPaint too.

Despite all the griping about Painter 7, no one ever said they didn't like
Painter.
In fact, peoples' love for Painter is evidenced by the great lengths they
are willing to suffer through its inconveniences ;-)

Check the Painter 7 information on my site, especially the Painter 7
Findings - Tips and Facts. Some of the reported problems are fixed with
the Painter 7 Update but there's a lot of good information there that
will help you. Be sure to read each page linked from the PixelAlley
Section Links Page (URL below my signature), and download all of the PDF
files. There's an important tutorial written by Jeremy Sutton explaining
how to use a solution Judy Miller found for the way Painter 7 Brushes
interact differently with Paper textures than they did in earlier
versions. Also, in the PDF files are some that came with the Painter 7
Update and a couple of extra ones.

Tutorials useable in Painter 7 are also found by clicking the top link
on the left side of the page and visiting the other sections at
PixelAlley.

Mickey,

Pressure sensitivity for Mac OSX is included in the Painter 7 Update.
The Wacom driver was not available for Corel to test and implement prior
to the release of Painter 7 and that's one of the main reason for the
Patch. In addition, the Painter 7 Update includes the new Tinting
Brushes provided for Painter 7 users who missed the functioning of older
version Water Color Brushes.

Also, there are several ways to increase speed of the Painter 7 Water
Color brushes

Brush Controls palette:

SIZE - Move the Feature slider to the right.
SIZE - Decrease the Brush Size.

WATER - Move the Wetness slider to the left.
WATER - Move the Dry Rate slider to the right.

Experiment with the settings in the Brush Controls palette and also in
the Art Materials Paper section. I think someone said that lowering
Contrast helped speed up the Painter 7 Water Color Brushes also.

uggh! i was playing around with painter7.1 and drew up some stuff....went
to print it out.... and painter 7 dissappeared?! oh no! well..no big
deal...i didn't want to save it anyways...just wanted to see how it turned
out printed....but now i know to save a lot. and yea..i guess i agree the
watercolor brushes are pretty slow...that is with a 300dpi 8x10" image.
kinda expected that. (seems like when i first got painter5 on an old
Pentium 2 200mhz!, but now i have a 1.6ghz...such is technology) the tinting
brushes are jkinda not the same as the old watercolro brushes either....will
search for that post about JUST ADD WATER for painter 7. not
complaining...i still love painter 7...just giving feedback.... thats what
the developers need.
