HI everybody,
I've seen the version for Mac of Painter.6 working, it had a great effect
at the water color tool called "simple water".
I just bought the program, the actual version though, "Painter.7".(Mac)
I tried same tool, same function ("water color - simple w.") but the effect
is absolutely different.
Does anyone know if it is possible to achieve the same "old effect" with
the new version? Maybe it's under another name, I don't know...
Cheers!

Marcos,

Since a lot of us were rather stunned to find that our Painter 6 and
earlier version Water Color brushes wouldn't work the same in Painter
7.. and we made a whole lot of noise about it.. Painter Developer John
Derry created a new kind of brush for us. It came with the Painter 7
Update recently released. These brushes are not Wet brushes but the look
a lot like the simpler Water Color brushes we were used to. They're
called the Tinting brushes and there's a PDF file available to download
that explains them.

The Painter 7 Update files are linked from the Procreate site (if you're
fortunate enough to have been given the address, that is.. I hear that
people who go to the main Procreate site can't find anything related to
the Update. Ah well!

I put together all of the direct URLs to the files in the Painter 7
Update package and the message I sent around is copied below. I hope it
helps and be sure to read the Installation instructions before starting
to install the Painter 7 Update. (When you get everying installed, take
some time to check all of the Painter 7 information on my site, read
everything and download all of the PDF files. There are more tutorials
for Painter 7 in the sections linked from the left side of the
PixelAlley Section Links Page URl below my signature.)

Hi Marcos,

I've run into the same problem, and I'm afraid the new tinting brushes,
while a definite improvement, still don't come close to the old effect for
me. I've tried to come up with my own version of the Simple Water variant,
and you're free to download it from my site at
www.mcegraphics.com/illustration/watercolor. It's far from perfect, but it's
as close as I've been able to come to the old brush.

Good luck!

Matt
