All colors, except white become extremely saturated. A light grey on the
source image will clone as a dark grey.
After having developed a "style" under Painter 6, at a loss under 7.
Any suggestions as to what is happening?
Not yet having Painter 7 myself, I can only guess that the Brushes'
Subcategory might be set to Grainy Wet Buildup (or something close).
This is one of the choices in Painter 6 and I don't know what the
equivalent would be in Pianter 7. If there's a similar choice in Painter
7, try changing it and see what happens.
Good luck,

Although it acts like a massive buildup, buildup is not selected in any
option. I have called "support" twice this morning ..... they disconnected
on the first call. After going on a "goose chase" as they didn't believe
that I was reporting the problem accurately, they are taking it under
advisement and will call me back.
However, that was a couple of hours ago and I haven't heard anything.
The effect of the "clone color" selection on a watercolor brush or a
watercolor cloner is the same. Huge saturation of color, giving a charcoal
look ....... very dirty ..... to anything cloned unless the source color is
white.

This may not pertain to Painter 7, but when I reset Brush Tracking using
a very light stroke, then go back to paint, the brush strokes are much
more saturated/dark. If, when I reset Brush Tracking, I paint using a
heavy stroke, then go back to paint, the brush strokes are much less
saturated/lighter. This is without changing the Opacity at all.
Other brush settings might also be affecting your brush strokes, so you
might check through all of the Brush controls to see if anything makes
an improvement. (You've probably done all that already.)
Hope you get some help soon. I can imagine how frustrating that must be
after having developed a technique that you want to continue using.
I have tried many different settings, including suggestions by Corel tech
support as well as those on your latest post...... without success.
Most simply put, the situation is that the watercolor brushes "clone color"
and watercolor cloners act as if they use "build" rather than "cover".
Secondly, the "build" is so extreme, even in low opacity, that the
saturation becomes grotesque.
The watercolor brushes I use in v. 6 will "build" only to the saturation
level of the source and the speed at which it "builds" depends on the
opacity.
I appreciate your suggestions. I think that I am still in contact with
Corel tech support but I have called several times on (toll calls with the
expense on me) with minimal support thus far. However, I am still hopeful
that we can work through the problem.
