Subject: The Refugees at Cooldog Concerts in Delaware this Sunday!

Next up at Cooldog are the Refugees!  This band is very new, but has 3
very experienced professional musicians. Their collaboration has really
been a hit in the musical circles - so much so, I'd recommend you get
your RSVP in for this show - you may not be able to see these ladies in
a venue this intimate again.  They'll be touring in the mid-atlantic again:
- in June, they'll be at the Sellersville Theatre, so you can see them
with 300 other people
- in July, they'll be at the Xponential Festival on the Riverfront in
Philly/Camden, so you can see them with thousands of other people
- in August, they'll play the Philly Folk Fest, so you can see them with
30,000 of your closest friends

For this special show we're asking a $20 donation ($12 for ages 10-18
and active military). We're back to our standard Sunday at 3pm schedule,
too.
The date is this Sunday, April 20.

The Refugees represent an incredible convergence of talent. Each
performs their individual songs accompanied by the other two on guitars,
bass, melodica, keyboards, percussion, mandolin, and harmonica,
culminating in the creation of new renditions of their exceptional work.
They have been described as a female version of Crosby, Stills and Nash
with humor.

    * CINDY BULLENS <http://www.cindybullens.com/>: Cindy Bullens
career, jump-started by a stint in Elton John's band, has already
included eight solo albums on major or national indie labels. Her
debut solo album, Desire Wire (United Artists), scored a
breakthrough hit with her song "Survivor," earning a Grammy
nomination for best rock vocal performance. Her critically
acclaimed 1999 CD "Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth" (Artemis)
won the 2000 AFIM Award for Best Rock Album. Cindy's current CD is
dream # 29, which the Boston Globe declared a "gem." Bullens
continues to impress critics with a sound she has "perfected"
(Washington Post), a combination of "no-holds-barred rock" (St.
Louis Post-Dispatch) and "aching melodies" (Country Weekly). dream
#29 features guest appearances by Sir Elton John, Delbert
McClinton and Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield. Her songs have been
recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Radney Foster, The Nitty Gritty Dirt
      Band, Irma Thomas and more.
    * DEBORAH HOLLAND <http://www.deborahholland.net/>: Deborah
Holland's tremendous singing and songwriting talents were first
introduced via two critically acclaimed albums, tours, MTV videos,
and television appearances with the seminal trio Animal Logic
(with Stewart Copeland and Stanley Clarke). She has gone on to
have a successful career as a solo artist releasing 4 CDs; the
newest one entitled Bad Girl Once... (RageOn Records, 2006).
Critics have praised her songwriting as "a lyrical ironist to
match Warren Zevon." (Sing Out! magazine), "a female Loudon
Wainwright III" (OC Weekly) and "as a wordsmith, Deborah Holland
concerns herself with the balance between heart and mind. As an
artist, she makes the balance seem effortless" (Dirty Linen: Folk
and World Music). In addition to making records, Deborah scores
music and writes songs for film and television, is a full-time
professor of music at California State University at Los Angeles,
and is a mother of 2 boys.
    * WENDY WALDMAN <http://www.wendywaldman.com/> : Wendy Waldman has a
distinguished career as an artist (solo on major labels and cult
fave Bryndle), one of the first woman record producers to have a
major impact, and songwriter of multi-platinum songs in genres
from country to pop, film, jazz, children's music and R&B. Her
list of songwriting and producing credits is extensive and
impressive, and includes the Grammy-winning "Save the Best for
Last," (recorded by Vanessa Williams). Her first album, Love Has
Got Me, on Warner Bros. Records, was proclaimed by Rolling Stone
Magazine to be the "singer-songwriter debut of the year." She has
made eight critically acclaimed solo albums and toured extensively
as well. In 1996, a "best of" collection was released on Warner
Brothers, followed by the reissue of all of the Warner albums in
2005. Her newest CD, My Time in the Desert, will be released in 2007.
