Is it possible at all to have the fileconnector links work correctly
on the Linux side to actually open the documents.

Having to use smb to crawl the documents has me skeptical on this
because I would imagine the users machine would have to be
authenticated to the share. Is there a way to map it to an NFS
location on the backend so that the local link can traverse an
external NFS file system which is the same as the cifs share?

Any help would be appreciated.
