Great statistic Martha - it has a WOW factor.

The story below is taken from the Independent.ie, a nationwide news site.
According to researcher Heinz Leymann, 15% of all successful suicides can be attributed to workplace bullying.
This story reminds us of DOC because coworkers assist in the abuse. They see what is happening to the one, and fear for their own jobs.   Victims stay in the abusive environment far too long, and symptoms of severe trauma may not show up until later.  These are some of the reasons we feel it is imperative that DOC conducts investigations promptly and fairly.  As you know, most of the 6-7 years of investigations we saw concentrated on villifying the complainant.  There is now such a history of this that people who could report abuse do not.   stopthe...@comcast.net

JUST two weeks after her 18th birthday, Leanne Wolfe took her own life.
She had only just been accepted onto a course to train for her dream job as a midwife.
Just two hours after Leanne was buried in March of last year, her parents, Colette and Anthony Wolfe, found a diary among her possessions.
In it the teen had detailed the physical and mental abuse she was suffering at the hands of a gang of girl bullies.
The cruel campaign varied from messages on websites, mobile phone abuse, threats, horrific rumours, bald patches torn in her hair, a black eye and her car being vandalised.
Her mother Colette said as it continued over a number of years and it progressed from name-calling to physical abuse. The name-calling and rumours were the "worst" part of it for her youngest daughter, Colette said. "Leanne loved people she didn't know how to hate," she said.
The bright teen had left a two-page letter to be read out at her own funeral detailing those who had been tormenting her and the extent of her sufferings. Many teenagers have since left messages on Leanne's website detailing their own experiences of bullying.

(Workplace bullying is the malicious and sustained targeting of one or two employees for explusion or mistreatment. It is against any employer's legitimate business interests and must be stopped!)
