If anyone would like to join the CCHS as a paid-up member, I can collect membership fees ($50) and record names at the meeting tonight. The membership fee is a one-off and allows you to vote for committee members and/or be nominated at the AGM in a few weeks. As I understand it there is a plan to charge an as-yet-unspecified monthly usage fee in addition to this, to actually use the space, to cover the costs of keeping it up.
I don't have an official role by the way - I'm doing this temporarily until the AGM. We have a bit of a circular dependency in that people need to have a chance to join before the AGM, so that they can vote and be elected.
Cheers, Clare
PS. Just to be clear, this isn't compulsory - I don't want to give anyone the impression that you need cash to turn up to the meeting tonight. You don't!

We are just in the process of organizing the AGM, new committee election and other general planning for 2012.
It is very likely (but not yet confirmed) that the AGM will be on Tuesday, 6th March (at a time and place to be determined) ... so that we can provide the required notice as required by the Rules of Association ...

There was a mistake in an earlier email. Apologies for not spotting that and correcting it sooner.
The $50 membership fee is annual. Paying this fee allows people to be nominated (and accepted) for a role on the CCHS committee (payable one week prior to AGM). And, for everyone else to vote for the nominated committee members (payable prior or at the beginning of the AGM).
The membership fee does not pertain to the usage of the HackerSpace facility (garage).
We are in the process of determining the exact facility fee structure. Given the member "financial" survey from late last year and various discussions since then, and some understanding of our likely costs and possible membership numbers ... we have a reasonable idea of what the facility fees are likely to be.
As soon as those details are finalized ... then, the email list will be notified.
