Jaycar has this familiar-looking "solar bracket mounting" extrusion if you're in a hurry:

There's also this place that sells through eBay, and has a variety of sizes, though I've not bought anything from them:

the action bearings: 1.10.020020.43LP seems to be a good match, does anyone know how much these people charge?

Rob Gannon or Mark Street can probably put you onto a good local supplier.

so far that seems to be the most cost effective, would perhaps make sense to get a little extra for others at the space.  I just need some to make another mendelmax.

Hi April,

it's surprisingly difficult to find the 20x20 stuff here in Melbourne

As Alistair said:

Modular components / Item sell "Profile 5" which have a 20x20 - http://www.modularcomponents.com.au

Action Bearings / Linear World sell "Maytec" extrusion which has a 20x20 also, http://www.actionbearings.com.au/ - but the nuts are different to and NOT COMPATIBLE WITH the Minsumi extrusions

Apart from buying the "Minsumi" brand in from overseas the following list of people sell Extrusion, but not (to my knowledge) a 20x20mm

Robotunits in Tullamarine sell their own brand extrusion in 40 and 50mm

SMC Pneumatics in Clayton sell "Minitec" extrusion from USA, it comes in 32 and 45mm sizes

Australis Engineering in NSW sell their own "Alusic" extrusion

SES Linear Bearings sell their own system - http://www.linearbearings.com.au

Bosch Rexroth
have an office in Braeside, their stuff is good quality and german and expensive and they only deal with businesses

CNC Shop "cncandcupcake" on ebay http://stores.ebay.com.au/CNC-AND-CUPCAKE-WORLD sell the "System 30/ System 40", which does not have a smaller 20x20 either, but they do have a LOT of other good gear.

Hope this helps

Mark

So based on the modular components prices, if they are compatible, it will cost me around $62 for the extrusions.

Thats what most people on ebay charge for shipping.

Hi April, My 3d printer is made from ITEM extrusion from modular components.
The advantage of their extrusion is that they have incredible accessories EG: precision ground linear rail that clips in to their extrusion and they also sell the V pulleys to suit the linear rail.
Not the cheapest but certainly the BEST of them all.
Just my 2c worth
