Hey All,

Just thought I would introduce myself.

I work in IT in Melbourne city. My role in IT at the moment is
Networking and Security.

Outside of work I love to mess around with electronics and computers/
internet/etc in general.

I am planning on getting along to some of the meetings in the near
future.

How have the other meetings gone?

Hi Hurgh!

I'm also new here, and haven't been able to attend any of the meetings thus far, but I'm really interested in getting this hacker space up and going.

I'm currently studying electrical engineering at Monash down at Clayton, so I guess it goes without saying I'm pretty interested in electronics, and I like the look of the work samotage is doing with his Smart Energy Groups stuff also, but I'm pretty into the general maker spirit so I certainly wouldn't be ruling anything out...

Have the meetings still been going on on Tuesdays?

Anyway, hope to meet a few of you and get involved!

Cheers!
Will.

hi Will and Hurgh,

Since the initial Saturday meeting (follow the link in the Meetings
section for more details), we've had regular activity each week. One
weekend, Jon Oxer organized a Class C rocket launch with telemetry.
One Tuesday, Sam Sabey presented his collection of (awesome) built-
from-scratch RC airplanes / gliders. And, I've held small, regular
Tuesday evening meetings, each week, for some recreational hacking. I
know that some of the other members have been getting up-to-speed with
their Arduinos ... and/or making progress on their own projects.

To start with, we've focused on working together on projects and
seeing how the collaboration works, and what our need are ... instead
of meeting / discussing formal organization, a real (expensive)
workshop, serious equipment / tools, legalities, insurance, membership
fees, etc. However, given the level of interest ... we need to have a
larger and more public meeting, perhaps in a pub or restaurant, to
discuss such matters ... now, that we have some momentum going. This
is pretty high on the to-do list.

The next big weekend meeting will be on 23rd / 24th May (there is a
Wiki page on this). We'll try to schedule times based on "areas of
interest", so that people can turn up when it best suits them (or just
hack the whole weekend, if they have the stamina). Having a BBQ or
take-way (in the garage) is also a strong possibility for the Saturday
evening (if there is enough interest).

Please contact me via Twitter @geekscape or email, if you'd like to
attend and/or contribute.
