Description: SQL Server DBA
Our company is seeking a dynamic DBA with experience providing application and system DBA support, design, and data modeling for complex data environments.
Position Responsibilities:
Designs and develops logical and physical layers of various MS SQL databases
Administers procedures and practices regarding data access and upkeep of databases
Manages and maintains data and data distribution in all production and non-production databases and replication servers
Designs and implements database back up, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies for physical databases
Manages Capacity Planning; Change Management of database objects; Performance Monitoring and Tuning; SQL Analysis; Security Administration
Participates in Disaster Recovery exercises, QA Stress tests and testing and reporting during hardware/software upgrades
Provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff for developing conceptual and logical database design and physical database
Conducts application and server performance tuning to improve database performance
Performs and manage database administration to ensure database availability and enable the proper database monitoring
Develops standardized and automated release management procedures
Manages and deploys replication server solutions supporting both disaster recovery and applications
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems and recommend solutions
Position Requirements:
MS SQL DBA experience with 5 + years of overall experience in a large enterprise environment supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases and related software
Minimum of 5+ years MS SQL Server 2000 - experience with MS SQL 2005 a plus
Scripting & Programming experience (TSQL, Perl, WSH or NT Batch)
Strong DTS, Replication Server, and T-SQL skills
Evaluation, Testing, and Coordinated rollout of new versions and patches of MS SQL software
Knowledge with OLAP (Data Cubes) technologies preferred
Maintain reliability and availability of existing MS SQL environments
Participation in planning and testing Disaster Recovery and Fail-Over exercises
Effective communication skills – oral, written and presentation
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline preferred
