Subject: New Calvin site for 2010

Christmas greetings from Continuing Education at Princeton Seminary!

As someone who participated in our Calvin 2009 project, we'd like to let you know about our plans for 2010. We've created a new site called "Ad Fontes: A Primer in Reformed Theology."

The new site is designed to help small groups return "to the sources" and study Reformed theology in a systematic way throughout 2010. We'll be using some of the foundational sources of the Reformed tradition, namely (1) Scripture; (2) Calvin's 1541 Institutes; and (3) selected passages from Reformed catechisms and confessions.

We chose Calvin's 1541 Institutes as the inspiration for the site, since it was written for a lay audience and because it is divided into 17 chapters, each on a distinct and important theological theme. A pastor-scholar will introduce each chapter's topic with a comprehensive reflection, draw connections to Scripture and the wider Reformed tradition, and point out specific issues for further discussion. There will also be other resources posted on occasion and a much more robust discussion forum.

Please note: Right now, the new site is in its beta mode. We just thought you might like to check things out during this soft launch. Here's the current link: http://www3.ptsem.edu/offices/coned/adfontes/

Things should start up in full swing in the second week of January. In the mean time, please check it out, spread the word, and consider starting a small group in your church to participate!
