Dear All,
I cannot fix the Internet or our Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) or Google, but here are some tips. I think most of you know these
things, but who knows, maybe something will work. Some of these techniques
do reduce the likelihood that email will be flagged as spam, or, worse yet, not
allowed through.
1) Make sure you have added the email address of our CC google
group to your address book or whatever your ISP calls your address
book. This shows your ISP that you wish to receive mail from that email
address.
2) You probably do this, but use "reply" more often than
"forward." At least for me on AOL, the "forward" function seems to
create more problems, and I know that ISPs look for mail that has been
forwarded, because it might be a chain letter.
3) Try not to leave too many prior postings attached, so that
your postings are not too long.
4) Minimize the number of URLs you put in your
postings.
5) Check your spam folders, because your CC mail might be
there. With AOL, they are going to stop warning you that things are in
your spam folder, so you will have to start checking for yourself.
6) Don't send too many postings! Maybe it's good
that we try to have a limit of 2 per person per day.
7) If you have a system like AOL that puts advertising
trailers in your notes, find the option to get rid of them. I had to hunt
and hunt on AOL until I was able to get rid of those trailers. It was
something to do with marketing and advertising options. The problem is that these advertising
trailers are usually URLs, and email with URLs and advertising
trailers automatically gets "flagged" by some systems.
8) Write to your ISP and complain, and tell them it's your
American right and your God-given right to exchange theological ideas with
others, and you are paying for this right anyway. And if they won't fix it
for you, tell them you'll move to another ISP!
9) Or at the group level, maybe we should move off of Google
groups and find a competitive product!
At any rate, these are not new ideas, and you've probably
tried them, but I thought I'd offer them.
Blessings,
Jane

Hi Herb,
I'm with you. I'd like to see this problem fixed
too. Sadly, it's a like repairing the telecommunications system in the
1970's--works well in most places, but can't get the static off the line in
some rural districts. My guess is that the problem arises from lots of ISP's
connecting with Google, some of which are flagged for sending out too much
spam. But I'd be glad if Andy or Jane would like to take up the task of
communicating with Google. Go forward with my blessing!
Hope to see you
soon,
Cliff
