wmii + gkrellm = no go?
Does anyone know how to use the two together without having gkrellm float around covering wmii's windows? Or, if the above can't be done, do you know a window manager that's as similar as possible to wmii, with which gkrellm can peacefully co-exist? Thanks in advance for your comments.

problem with videoconference device
I'd like to make a presentation and demo during a videoconference. Ideally the presentation will be a full screen acrobat reader display of a PDF file, and the demo a full screen firefox web session. However I'm having problems with the screen size which gets truncated. The PC has a native resolution of 1400x1050 (4:3).... more »

xfig, ghostview, gv pull-down menus stopped working
Hi folks, I've STFW but haven't found an answer, so I hope someone here knows. I can no longer select items with the mouse in the pulldown menus in xfig, ghostview, and gv. I have tried toggling NumLock (as suggested by one or two ancient posts) but that has no effect. I used xfig successfully about three weeks ago, and I'm not sure... more »

Problem in tiling window managers.
When I am using a tile window manager, no matter which (awesome, xmonad, dwm, wmii, etc, because I have tried them all and I leave them always with the default configuration from the install) I first start an application and it's fine, it's fonts are normal sized. I change the resolution with xrandr -s 1400x1050 (I have a HP 19' widescreen... more »

XDrawRectangle won't work after XFillRectangle
For some reason XDrawRectangle() refuses to draw over an area drawn with XFillRectangle(). Here is the code snippet: XSetForeground (g_display, gc, g_colors[GRAY].pixel); XSetFillStyle (g_display, gc, FillSolid); XFillRectangle (g_display, get_x_window_id (button), gc, 3, 3, rect_size.width - 6, rect_size.height - 6);... more »

X on HP d530 PC
I've been using a Westinghouse 1400x1050 LCD display with my Linux system. Now I'm trying to do it with a HP d530 machine. The combination of machine and monitor works OK on Windows, so the hardware must be capable. X under Linux reports that the monitor is unknown. I tried this both with the onboard video and with a plugin AGP card with same... more »

Large scale X
Hi, If i have 1000 user accounts on one accounts server and dozens of X apps on another apps server, how can a user start an X app when they don't have an account on the apps server? (no user accounts at all on apps server) I'm thinking of traditional X where the users use dumb X terminals, and xdm gives the log-in screen.... more »
