I've been using a Westinghouse 1400x1050 LCD display with my Linux
system. Now I'm trying to do it with a HP d530 machine. The combination
of machine and monitor works OK on Windows, so the hardware must be
capable. X under Linux reports that the monitor is unknown. I tried
this both with the onboard video and with a plugin AGP card with same
results. What is HP doing to screw up transmitting monitor data to the
Linux system?
I tried using system-config-display and told it I have a 1400x1050 generic
LCD monitor. Then it allows me to select that resolution, but the
picture is squashed left to right.
